Homemade Dryer Sheets

Ever think about making your own dryer sheets?  The thought never occurred to me until I was watching a friend do her laundry.  She was very happy with her homemade dryer sheets and with the money that they were saving her.  I looked further into this idea and found four different ways to go about making dryer sheets at home, so if you are interested you have come to the right place.

Four Homemade Alternatives to using Dryer Sheets

1.  Fill a container (a large margarine tub works well) half way full of water and fabric softener (one part water, one part fabric softener).  Then add some pieces of cloth, small sponges or wash cloths to your container.  Now, as you get ready to dry another load of clothes, ring out a cloth and throw it in your dryer.

2.  Soak some washcloths in fabric softener, ring out and lay out to dry.  After your washcloths are dry, you can use them as dryer sheets.  You should be able to use them anywhere between 10 to 20 times.

3.  After your dryer is loaded, spray your clothes or a wash cloth directly a few times with fabric softener.

4.  Lastly you can make fabric soften dryer balls.  You will need a pair of nylons, fabric softener and a ball of yarn.  Stick the ball of yarn inside the nylons and tie a knot in the nylons securing the yarn in place.  Soak your ball in fabric softener and allow to dry.  Use this ball instead of dryer sheets, it should work for around 30 loads of laundry.
