Bed Sheet Suspenders
Do you ever wake up in the morning and find your fitted bed sheet wrapped around your feet? It seems that the sheets keep getting smaller or the mattress keeps getting bigger.
So you try to make your bed so the fitted bed sheet is under the mattress corner, quite a work out pulling and tugging until you are amazed the sheet just doesn’t tear down the middle. Then usually it is a questionable fit. Oh well, what’s a person to do? OK, read on to find out.
Fitted Bed Sheets Solution
Here is a simple solution that will keep you fitted bed sheet in-place night after night. Make yourself some bed sheet suspenders, yes I said suspenders, similar to what your great grandfather used to wear. A set of 4 suspenders will hold down not only your bottom sheet but also the mattress pad with no wrinkles, no muss.
The materials needed for each suspender is a one inch wide elastic strap material and a set (two) of suspender clips. Both of these can be purchased at any fabric store. The elastic strap is normally used when sewing clothes, an example would be for a waste band. The length of the strap should be the same width as your bed.
The elastic strap is attached to the clip by inserting it through the clip open end and folding the elastic strap back onto itself by 5/8”. The strap is then sewed together using a sewing machine and a straight stitch. Go over the stitch another 3 times to make a strong seam.
I recommend having 4 suspenders per bed. These are spaced evenly between the mattress and the box springs with the ends just visible below the mattress. Now just clip the suspenders onto the mattress pad and bed sheet on each side of the bed. This will keep the bottom sheet in-place.
Now you have a nice tight bottom sheet that stays put and no wrinkles to interrupt your sleep. Good job!
